Steven Spielberg and Electronic Arts have worked together to create three new franchise properties. The first of them – Boom Blox – was released last week as a casual game that takes players through 400 levels of what has been called ‘strategic destruction’.

Deal or No Deal is purely a game of luck. All you have to do is pick a suitcase and hope that it has the number you want. You could end up leaving the show with $5 or even $500. Why someone would actually make this into a board game is beyond me because there is really nothing to it.

Backgammon is a classic game like chess or checkers – but surprisingly few people know how to play it. Each player has 15 pieces that have to be moved from the place that they start off all around the board to the home base and then off the board completely. Each round the player will throw the dice and will than determine which piece they will move. Players do have the ability to capture each other’s pieces –which will make those pieces start off from the beginning.

The next installment to the Smash Court Tennis will be released in August. Atari stated this week that they will be releasing Smash Court Tennis 3 on to the Xbox 360. The new game will offer more stars, the ability to play Xbox Live online, and new customization options for players to choose from.
The new entry will include a total of 16 tennis pros, including Roger Federer, Maria Sharapova, Rafael Nadal and Martina Hingis. The game engine is said to include improved animations, realistic shadows, skin shaders, and high dynamic range rendering.

This week Namco stated that they would be releasing Soul Calibur on the Xbox Live Arcade. It has been given new leaderboards as well as newer Arade, Training, and Survival modes.
Apparently, though, there’ll be no online multiplayer - unlike Capcom’s XBLA version of Super Street Fighter II Turbo. Some news sites have reported that the ‘original’ Soul Calibur is coming to Xbox - which, is technically incorrect - that was Soul Edge (or Soul Blade if you prefer), from 1996.

Rock Band has become one of the top played games on the PS3 and Xbox 360. This addictive game allows you to rock out to your favorite music as a group or to play (or sing) solo. Nintendo has noticed the increasing popularity of the game and have finally decided that they want a piece of the action. They have done what no one expected them to do – release Rock Band for the Wii on June 22nd.

Call of Duty 4 is one of the most anticipated games of the year. In order to celebrate this Activision will be releasing a ‘Game of the Year’ edition. The new game will come with a different styled box and a token that will allow you to download the ‘Variety Map Pack’.

If there is one game that is loved by all it would be Super Mario Brothers. The game has been around for more than a decade and has proved its worth and helped to spur Nintendo to its success. With that being said we weren’t surprised to see that Nintendo was releasing a sequel to the legendary Smash Brothers game for the Wii – Super Mario Smash Bro. Brawl.

Sony is popular for many games that they have released – but none has been as addictive and well sold as SingStar. It was a chance for PS2 gamers to listen to their favorite music and to sing along to it either on their own or in a group as friends. Now Sony has made the SingStar game for the PS3 and given it a few new features.

Those who still use their computers to entertain themselves with the many games available to them will most likely know World of Warcraft by Blizzard. It is a popular online video game that has attracted many gamers from all around the world.
There is another game out there that was created by Blizzard and has made a smaller mark on the gaming community. Guild Wars may not be as popular – but it is still a game that is fun to play and offers a way for others to connect and play with each other.
