Scrabulous Changes Name And Rules To Skirt Lawsuit

The creators of the Scrabble knockoff Scrabulous have taken their Scrabble knock-off game off Facebook and replaced it with something new. This time they are sure that they have avoided any problems concerning trademark and copyright laws.

The creators removed Scrabulous off on Tuesday from Facebook when they were approached with a lawsuit from the owners of Scrabble’s North American rights. Now, the game has reappeared with the name Wordscraper. The change could help it avoid any confusion with Scrabble.

Hasbro Inc. Suing Online Scrabble Knock-Off

Hasbro Inc. - the American toy company - is suing the creators of Scrabulous. Scarbulous is a Scrabble game knock-off and according to Hasbro it has infringed on the rights that Scrabble holds. They filed a suit this week asking for assests of bankrupt Coleco. They also asked Facebook to block the game from their site.

Although Scrabulous has been around since 2006, Hasbro is apparently angry that, even after releasing an official Scrabble together with game maker Electronic Arts Inc., Facebook users still preferred the knock-off, even though both were free.

Steven Spielberg’s Boom Blox Released

Steven Spielberg and Electronic Arts have worked together to create three new franchise properties. The first of them – Boom Blox – was released last week as a casual game that takes players through 400 levels of what has been called ‘strategic destruction’.

Smash Court Tennis 3 Coming Out On Xbox 360

The next installment to the Smash Court Tennis will be released in August. Atari stated this week that they will be releasing Smash Court Tennis 3 on to the Xbox 360. The new game will offer more stars, the ability to play Xbox Live online, and new customization options for players to choose from.

The new entry will include a total of 16 tennis pros, including Roger Federer, Maria Sharapova, Rafael Nadal and Martina Hingis. The game engine is said to include improved animations, realistic shadows, skin shaders, and high dynamic range rendering.

Guild Wars Reaches 5 Million Mark

Those who still use their computers to entertain themselves with the many games available to them will most likely know World of Warcraft by Blizzard. It is a popular online video game that has attracted many gamers from all around the world.
