Steven Spielberg’s Boom Blox Released

Steven Spielberg and Electronic Arts have worked together to create three new franchise properties. The first of them – Boom Blox – was released last week as a casual game that takes players through 400 levels of what has been called ‘strategic destruction’.

Smash Court Tennis 3 Coming Out On Xbox 360

The next installment to the Smash Court Tennis will be released in August. Atari stated this week that they will be releasing Smash Court Tennis 3 on to the Xbox 360. The new game will offer more stars, the ability to play Xbox Live online, and new customization options for players to choose from.

The new entry will include a total of 16 tennis pros, including Roger Federer, Maria Sharapova, Rafael Nadal and Martina Hingis. The game engine is said to include improved animations, realistic shadows, skin shaders, and high dynamic range rendering.

Namco To Release Soul Calibur To Xbox Live Arcade

This week Namco stated that they would be releasing Soul Calibur on the Xbox Live Arcade. It has been given new leaderboards as well as newer Arade, Training, and Survival modes.

Apparently, though, there’ll be no online multiplayer - unlike Capcom’s XBLA version of Super Street Fighter II Turbo. Some news sites have reported that the ‘original’ Soul Calibur is coming to Xbox - which, is technically incorrect - that was Soul Edge (or Soul Blade if you prefer), from 1996.

Nintendo To Release Rock Band For The Wii

Rock Band has become one of the top played games on the PS3 and Xbox 360. This addictive game allows you to rock out to your favorite music as a group or to play (or sing) solo. Nintendo has noticed the increasing popularity of the game and have finally decided that they want a piece of the action. They have done what no one expected them to do – release Rock Band for the Wii on June 22nd.

Call of Duty 4 is one of the most anticipated games of the year. In order to celebrate this Activision will be releasing a ‘Game of the Year’ edition. The new game will come with a different styled box and a token that will allow you to download the ‘Variety Map Pack’.

JK Rowling And EA Games Team Up

You can never create something without a little help. That is exactly what EA Games beleived when they asked JK Rowling, author of the Harry Potter series, to help them create the brand new “Order of the Pheonix” video game.

JK Rowling helped EA Games with the creation of rules and plot for the newest game. Chris Roberts, who oversaw the games development wanted to create games like Gobstones and Exploding Snap but had no rules, so they forwarded some to JK, which she approved. JK also helped the creators with a certain plot line in the game.
