The Classic Game Of Sorry

There are so many games that I used to play when I was a child that I rarely see anymore in this day and age. It seems that most children are playing video games and computer games instead of board games. Unfortunately it’s hard to have a fun filled family night with those games. So for those of you who want to bring the family together and play some good old fashioned board games then this is a great one to try. The game of Sorry is one that is not only fun, but one that children will remember and love and want to keep playing again and again.

It is a classic game that is based on luck, strategy, and determination. It isn’t a hard game to learn, which makes it easier on you and your children. Children as young as 6 years old can play it. Now this doesn’t mean that it is a game solely for the younger children. Adults and older chidlren will find it very enjoyable as well.

To play you first begin by drawing cards. Players then move their game pieces around the board, hoping to eventually accumulate all their pieces at the final destination, home sweet home. Sorry is known as the game of “sweet revenge,” since players can send each other’s pawns back to the starting line, thus forcing one another to lose ground and begin all over again.

Of course this kind of frustration may be hard for children under age 8 to handle. In fact, young ones typically crumble into tears of outrage when their pawns are cavalierly sent back. The only recourse is to teach children how to plot their own revenge, which makes them feel as powerful as superheroes. But beware, once you teach them this they will become very clever at it and you will find yourself being the dissapointed one.

There are so many different types of the game of Sorry to purchase that it can be hard to choose from. My suggestion would be to start off with the original one and if you like it that much then you can purchase some of the more advanced and more strategic ones. Whatever you do though, you must have fun!
